
Freshness is not only one of our core values, it's also the inspiration for our global Freshness program, designed to encourage our people to think in fresh new ways across all aspects of business (and life!).
For example, as part of the Freshness initiative, earlier this year we ran a global, company-wide “If I Ran the Company” competition. Every MediaCom employee around the world worked in teams to present their 2 minute idea on how to make MediaCom a better company for both its people and its clients.
True to its goal, the competition generated a plethora of creative, employee-generated ideas. The winning idea—Inspiration Day—is brilliant in its simplicity. In essence, Inspiration Day allows every MediaCom employee to spend one work day per year doing something inspiring. The activity isn’t important; the fresh thinking gained from the experience is all that matters.
Employees have done everything from working at a Subway restaurant (our client) for the day, to visiting Egypt, to researching their roots at Ellis Island, to learning how to edit video.
Other examples of Freshness programs include monthly Breakfast with the Boss get-togethers, blog building classes, a global photo contest and creativity training, among others.
