Chief Executive Officer
Office: New York
Doug was named CEO of MediaCom U.S. in the fall of 2007, and now leads MediaCom's entire North American business. Since signing on as head of the agency’s U.S. operation, Doug’s focus has been leading MediaCom’s strategic reinvention. Under his leadership, the agency’s operational structure, processes, client relationships and strategic approach to communications planning and buying continue to be evaluated and optimized.
During a relatively short time period of time, Doug led the agency to several successes, including extended relationships with existing clients and several significant new assignments from a diversity of clients, including stewardship of the WPP Dell account.
Prior to taking on this role, Doug was President and CEO of MediaCom’s Canadian operations, known as The Media Company. During his tenure in Canada, he helped build The Media Company into the largest and most successful media investment management company in the country, placing #1 for several successive years on RECMA’s ranking of Canadian agencies.
Doug began his career at MBS in Canada 25 years ago as a media trainee. After a series of promotions, he joined the MBS management committee in 1986. He was named managing partner in 1996, one year before MBS joined forces with MediaCom to form The Media Company. He was named President and CEO of The Media Company in 2003. Throughout his career, he has successfully pitched and run a broad range of clients spanning virtually every category, some of which include: TD Canada Trust, BMW Canada, Procter & Gamble, Nokia, Staples, Warner Bros., LVMH, GlaxoSmithKline, Rogers and Michelin.
Doug is active in the community in a number of different ways, including participation on numerous industry boards and committees. Since coming to the U.S., Doug has embraced MediaCom’s participation with Dress for Success, an organization that helps empower disadvantaged women. He has spearheaded several MediaCom-led volunteer events on behalf of DFS, established a DFS internship program, and serves as a member of the DFS Board.
When he’s not working, Doug enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, competing in Master’s lacrosse and basketball, and pursuing his self-admitted obsession with ski racing.
